Winneshiek County Celebration of Life encourages Local Women to #GoRedWinnCo as Part of National Wear Red Day® Celebration
To raise awareness among local women that heart disease is their #1 health threat, Winneshiek County Celebration of Life (COL) is encouraging area individuals and businesses to #GoRedWinnCo by wearing red and posting photos of their support to facebook.com/WinneshiekCountyCOL or post a public photos on Facebook with the hastag “#GoRedWinnCo”. The online event will take place on National Wear Red Day, Friday February 6.
According to Margaret Walters, board president of COL "Our #GoRedWinnCo online event is a great opportunity to reach out to women in our community and alert them to their personal risk factors for heart disease. By joining together we can raise awareness locally about heart disease and help lead women on the path to prevention."
National Wear Red Day is a day when Americans nationwide wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness. Awareness that heart disease is the #1 killer of women has nearly doubled in the last 12 years. However, most women fail to make the connection between heart disease risk factors and their personal risk of developing the disease.
